Facial Veins, Red Blemishes and Birthmarks
The vast majority of vascular (red) blemishes on our skin are some superficial vessels known as telangiectasias. The fairer-skinned individuals are more prone to them and they may range from a tiny "spider vein" to very deep red birthmarks.
At Cutanius we use our medical grade Intense Pulsed Light for treatment of vascular skin lesions by targeting the haemaglobin pigment in these aberrant vessels with a specific band of light. This causes eventual obliteration of sections of the target vessel with the process known as photocoagulation. The outer layers of skin are protected from heat damage by the specially cooled quartz tip on the machine.
The majority of these lesions will show significant improvement with 1 to 2 treatments, but some lesions may require more. All veins or red blemishes are carefully checked by our Cosmetic Physician to determine their suitability for treatment.
