Intradermal Rehydration Are you unhappy with the thinned, creased skin on your face, hands or décolletage? There is now a viable and affordable answer to this very common complaint. H.A. is a naturally occurring substance in the body. It has an important role in the skin matrix and functions by attracting and binding water, thereby improving the skin's appearance. However, the amount and quality of H.A. progressively decreases with age, and its function is impaired. As a result less H.A. is available to bind water, eventually leading to drier and less elastic skin. The ability of the skin to retain water can be improved by placing small amounts of H.A. within specific dermal layers. We call this intradermal rehydration (IR). It is an effective method which restores and maintains the hydrobalance of the skin. It gives natural, long-lasting but also discrete results. IR is a safe and effective treatment that rejuvenates the skin by improving elasticity and tone, thereby creating a fresh, natural appearance. This treatment has been available in Europe since 2004, and Dr Liew has helped pioneer a new method of delivering this treatment in 2008 which involves less bruising from the injection sites. IR treatment is initially performed three times at intervals of 4 weeks, with maintenance treatments usually every 4-8 months. Some results are usually seen immediately after each treatment. The effects are long-lasting but not permanent, due to the unique characteristics of the gel. Individual treatment programmes are designed according to the patient's age and skin condition.
